Boy Brings BB Gun To Oswego School: Police

The teen was charged with unauthorized possession or storage of a weapon.

OSWEGO, IL — A 15-year-old student was arrested Tuesday morning after police say he brought a BB gun to school.

Police said staff found the BB gun in the boy's backpack during the morning entry search at around 8:23 a.m. at East View Academy, a therapeutic day school for grades K-12 on Route 71.

According to a news release, Oswego police "determined there was no threat to students, staff or the school. The student had not displayed the BB gun or made any threats."

The teen, who is from Aurora, was taken into custody and charged with unauthorized possession or storage of a weapon due to having a BB gun on school grounds.

Police said the 15-year-old was brought to the Oswego Police Department, where he was processed. He was released to a legal guardian to await a court date.
