Bremen High School Student-Athlete of the Week: Aldo Pozos
Dedicated senior helps bring Poms program back to the top.

Senior Aldo Pozos is as busy as they come when it comes to managing a packed schedule. On top of maintaining a high GPA, Aldo is a member of the theater program, speech club, step team, band, Group Interpretation (GI), and the business club DECA. Despite already having more than enough to keep him busy, Aldo joined the Poms team last year as a junior—a dream he has had since fourth grade but never had the chance to pursue competitively. Aldo’s presence has not only improved the team through his choreography and effort, but his encouragement of classmates to join has helped the program reach new heights in participation and success. For these reasons, Aldo has been named this week’s Bremen High School Student-Athlete of the Week.
Performing has always been a passion and a source of motivation for Aldo. “I really like the people involved in Poms, and I enjoy competing for an audience,” says Aldo. Being part of the team has also helped him build confidence. His father, Jesus Pozos, remarks, “Joining the Poms team has really helped Aldo grow his confidence and leadership skills. It’s given him a sense of belonging and taught him teamwork and discipline. He’s learned how to push through challenges and stay dedicated to something.”
Aldo credits head coach Brooke Palmer with encouraging him to join. “Bremen transitioned to a Poms-style dance team two years ago when Coach Palmer took over, and that’s when I became interested in competing,” Aldo shares.

Prior to Coach Palmer’s leadership, participation in the Poms program was low. Since taking the helm two seasons ago, Coach Palmer has grown the program significantly. Last season, 24 athletes joined the team, and after winning their conference championship, that number has nearly doubled to 45 members this year. The increase even allowed for the addition of a junior varsity team. Coach Palmer credits Aldo’s enthusiasm for this growth, saying, “Aldo is very passionate about Poms and encouraged a lot of students to try out. As a friendly face, he had several students reach out to him with questions about auditioning for the team.”
That welcoming and friendly personality is what makes Aldo such an asset to the team. “When it comes to competition and choreography, Aldo’s strengths are execution and facials,” Coach Palmer says. She adds, “Aldo is a very hardworking athlete who makes sure he masters the choreography. He’s such a fun performer to watch—he captivates the audience and puts in 110% effort every time.”

History teacher and theater director Andrew Rybarczyk has also witnessed Aldo’s growth over the years. “Aldo joined theater as a freshman, and I remember how shy and reserved he was at first. But he quickly came out of his shell,” Rybarczyk shares. “It’s been my pleasure to watch him grow into not only a leader on stage but also in other sports and in the classroom. He actively works to bring groups together and make the collective succeed. Without being asked, he takes it upon himself to make sure others are connected, informed, and heard throughout the whole season and beyond.”
Academically, Aldo is just as impressive. He has earned a weighted cumulative GPA of 4.67 and continues to challenge himself in his senior year by enrolling in rigorous courses such as AP Spanish, AP U.S. Government & Politics, and AP Psychology. His academic excellence and dedication have earned him a $92,000 scholarship to St. Xavier University.
Aldo plans to major in Secondary English Education in hopes of becoming a high school English teacher. “Aldo has always loved reading and writing, and he wants to share that passion by helping kids learn and grow,” says Jesus. He adds, “St. Xavier felt like the right fit for him, and teaching fits his personality. He’s patient, compassionate, and great at connecting with people, so I know he’ll do great as a teacher.”
Aldo recalls discovering his love for teaching at an early age. “Ever since I was little, I had a passion for teaching,” Aldo says. “I have a younger brother who is two years younger than me, and when we were little, I would buy extra pencils and notebooks and pretend to teach him.” Rybarczyk agrees that Aldo’s talents are well-suited for the profession, saying, “He has an outgoing and engaging personality that will immediately hook his students. I can absolutely see him bringing all his talents into the classroom to inspire his students to achieve their best.”
With his future lined up, Aldo remains focused on helping the Poms team bring home another conference championship and setting a new standard for Bremen at the state tournament. As someone who has truly embraced all that Bremen offers, Aldo advises future Braves, saying, “Get involved in extracurricular activities or sports. That’s when I opened up, became more outgoing, and started enjoying every aspect of my life, both inside and outside of school.”
Aldo Pozos embodies the values of hard work, leadership, and community, and his journey serves as an inspiration to his teammates, classmates, and future Braves. Bremen is proud to celebrate Aldo’s accomplishments and looks forward to seeing his bright future unfold.
