Christmas Walk To Return With Fewer Attractions Amid Pandemic
This year, the event will take place on Dec. 4. Masks and gloves will be worn by all participants and sanitizers will be available.
OSWEGO, IL — Despite the coronavirus forcing events to be canceled all over the state, Oswego has decided to hold one of its annual holiday events this year. The village announced in a release Wednesday that the Christmas Walk will take place on Dec. 4, and for the third time in a row, Allied First Bank will continue their support as the presenting sponsor.
"Christmas Walk has a rich tradition in Oswego, and Allied First Bank is proud to keep this event alive, especially in 2020,” said Ken Bertrand, president/CEO of Allied First Bank.
Each year, the Christmas Walk brings hundreds of families to downtown Oswego for a tree-
lighting ceremony, live performances, a silent emergency vehicle parade, and all the sights,
sounds and smells that kick off the holiday season.

This year’s celebrations will look different to provide additional safety precautions for the health of the community. The Toyland Train, trolleys and other high-touch, tightly packed attractions will stay in the station for this year, and one-way foot traffic will create a Christmas walk-through event.
However, patrons will still experience beloved annual attractions, including live reindeer, Mrs. Claus, pictures near Santa, a tree lighting ceremony (via video) sponsored by First Place Rental of Oswego, live musical performances, holiday treat vendors plus all the wrappings and trappings of a festive Main Street.
