Christmas Walk Returns Next Friday, Dec. 6: Oswego
An annual holiday tradition in the village returns Friday, Dec. 6, from 5 - 8:30 p.m.

OSWEGO, IL — The 2019 Oswego Christmas Walk presented by Allied First Bank will be held from 5 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, throughout downtown Oswego. Main Street festivities begin at 5 p.m. and include ice skating on the faux ice rink, meeting live reindeer, watching ice sculpting, an inflatable sled hill, the Toyland train, and more. All festivities are free of charge.
Many local Oswego organizations will also participate in the Walk, with games, crafts, giveaways, and prizes. Food from a dozen vendors will be for sale during the event. There will also be live music at the Oswego Public Library, games of Christmas Goose Chase at the Little White School House and more.
The traditional tree-lighting - this year, with a Seussian twist - begins at 5:30 p.m. at the corner of Main and Jackson Streets and features live choral music from Bednarcik and Traughber Junior Highs. Dance troupes and choirs will also perform at four different entertainment spots throughout the event. Santa will be seeing visitors at the Fox River Academy of Music and Art, 26 W. Van Buren Street, adjacent to the trolley stop. Santa’s talented helpers from Locked In Photography will take photos that will be made available following the event. At 8 p.m., make way for the silent, illuminated fire truck parade sown Main Street, brought to you by the Oswego Fire Protection District. The parade features a number of beloved holiday characters, including Christmas Tree Rex.

Parking is limited in downtown Oswego this year. Avoid the congestion and ride the trolley with some of your favorite Christmas Walk characters. Four trolleys will operate a shuttle service from Oswego High School (north lot -- football stadium side), to Symphony at The Tillers, to the corner of Main and Van Buren Streets. The trolley service is free, thanks to the generous sponsorship of Shodeen, Symphony at The Tillers, and Hennessey's River View Ford, and will run on a continuous loop from 3:45 to 9:30 p.m. Handicapped parking is available adjacent to the Christmas Walk at the Oswego Public Library, 32 Jefferson Street.
Christmas Walk programs, including a full schedule of everything happening around downtown Oswego, are available at shops all along Main Street and for download at www.gooswego.org.
