Construction To Start Soon On Mystery Oswego Grocery Store: Report
Site work has begun on the new grocery store that will be constructed at the intersection of Route 34 and Kendall Point Drive.
OSWEGO, IL — Construction is slated to begin soon on the new, not-yet-named grocery store opening in Oswego, according to a report from Shaw Local.
Site work has started on the 12,500-square-foot grocery store that will be built at the intersection of Route 34 and Kendall Point Drive, Shaw Local said Wednesday.
Benderson Development is the Florida-based group helming the project. The Oswego Village Board approved on Feb. 19 its application for a grocery store, restaurant and bank on 5 acres of undeveloped land, part of the Steeplechase at Churchill Club development.

The developer has previously been linked with constructing Trader Joe's, though neither the popular grocery store company nor the village could confirm the identity of the new store.

"Once the plans [for the shell of the grocery store] have been approved, we expect the developer will begin construction on the actual structure," Oswego Economic Development Director Kevin Leighty told Shaw Local. "We also expect interior plans will be submitted separately, at which time the tenant will likely be identified."
