Crash Sends 1 to Hospital, Shuts Down Busy Oswego Intersection

The two-car accident closed the intersection of Mill and Orchard Roads for a half hour Thursday.

OSWEGO, IL — A two-car crash sent one driver to the hospital and shut down a major intersection in Oswego early Thursday, police said. One driver was issued a ticket in the accident.

At about 8 a.m. Thursday morning, a driver was traveling southbound on Orchard Road when it sought to turn left onto Mill Road, Oswego Police said in an incident report. As the car was turning, it was struck by a car traveling northbound on Orchard Roach through the intersection, according to police.

The turning car was struck in its passenger side, with the driver of the turning car, a 41-year-old woman from Yorkville, having to be taken to Copley Rush Hospital for treatment. The driver of the car that struck the turning vehicle, a 42-year-old woman from Plainfield, did not require treatment for injuries, police said.

Both cars did have to be towed from the scene, however, requiring first responders to close the intersection for about 30 minutes Thursday morning, police said. The driver of the turning car was issued a ticket for failing to yield while turning left.
