Early Voting Underway In Kendall County

Early voting is open at multiple locations across the county until Monday, March 16.

KENDALL COUNTY, IL — As election day, March 17, approaches, Kendall County officials would like to remind all residents that early voting is now underway. Local, congressional and presidential candidates are all included on the ballot for members of both major parties as well as independents.

"Early voting began on February 6... for any [candidate] in the state of Illinois," Kendall County Clerk Debbie Gillette said.

Gillette also said early voting runs until Monday, March 16. Election day proper is the following Tuesday, March 17. There are three early voting locations open to registered Kendall County voters. One is the County Clerk's office at 111 W Fox Street, Room 103 in Yorkville. Another is the Oswego Village Hall at 100 Parkers Mill. Finally, the Plano Village Hall at 17 E. Main Street is also a voting location, though voters are asked to use the entrance on North James Street.

Voters can follow this link from the County Clerk website to see the voting locations and the full schedule of early voting hours.

The county does not provide transportation to polling locations for the elderly or people with disabilities, but Gillette said there is a mail-in ballot system that those unable to reach the physical polls can still use. Follow this link to see if you qualify to receive a mail-in ballot. Application forms for the mail-in ballot are included with the link. The last day mail-in ballot applications will be accepted is Thursday, March 12.

"There's something that [elderly people and people with disabilities] can fill out if they need the ballot sent to their home because of a disability," Gillette said. "And if they call and let us know they're coming we can do some curbside assistance.

Those who wish to vote but are not currently registered can still register in time to early vote. Voter registration centers are scattered throughout the county; click this link to find a location near you. Voter registration forms are also available online here.

Besides the presidential primaries, in which Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump are currently the Democratic and GOP frontrunners respectively, Kendall County is also represented by the 11th and 14th Illinois Congressional Districts. Bill Foster (D-Naperville) and Lauren Underwood (D-West Chicago) are currently the incumbents for the 11th and 14th districts, respectively. Both are facing a crowded field of both Democratic and Republican challengers.
