Emergency Services To Caravan In Oswego On Friday
Residents are encouraged to watch the caravan from a safe distance and while still practicing social distancing.
OSWEGO, IL – The Village of Oswego will hold a caravan of emergency and essential vehicles this Friday, April 15, through parts of the Village’s west side to connect with Oswego residents and show support for our community and its essential workers during the Stay at Home Order.
The caravan will include vehicles from the Village of Oswego’s Police and Public Works departments, as well as from the Oswego 308 School District and Oswego Fire Protection District.

“We’ve had a significant number of requests from residents for birthdays and other occasions,” said Oswego Village President Troy Parlier, who will be leading the caravan. “While we’re not able to accommodate these requests because our teams are out there keeping Oswego safe and functional during the Stay at Home Order, we do want to offer our support and gratitude to our community in a meaningful way.”
In addition, the Village of Oswego is honoring workers in the healthcare industry who are on the front lines against COVID-19 by lighting up the night sky. Public Works crews this week have changed the lights in the Oswego Village Hall clocktower to blue in honor of our medical heroes.

“The stress of this unfolding crisis is felt by everyone in different ways: by our residents staying home in the face of uncertainty, and especially by our healthcare workers, first responders, and all our other essential employees who are still bravely showing up to work every day,” Parlier said. “Everyone has a role to play right now in keeping our community safe and healthy, and we want to thank everyone doing their part during these challenging times.”
The route will begin at 1:30 p.m. at Oswego Village Hall, turn right onto Washington Street, left onto Stonewater Lane, left onto Washington Street crossing Mill Road, left onto Fox Chase North, right onto Century Drive, left onto Manhattan Circle, right onto Hudson Drive, left onto Bison Road, right onto Otter Way, right onto Willowwood Drive North crossing Mill Road, and right onto Arbor Lane to end at Route 34.
Residents are advised to watch from their own front porches and yards, stand at least six feet apart from others, and avoid gathering together in groups to watch the caravan. Additional Village-led caravans through other neighborhoods are tentatively planned so long as the caravans can be conducted safely without crowding that can jeopardize public health. It’s just one more way we can be #OswegoTogether6FtApart.
Residents can take additional steps to protect themselves, their neighbors, and our essential workers by wearing face masks and continuing to regularly wash their hands and routinely disinfect surfaces.
