Fire In Oswego Saturday Destroys Barn

The fire was accidental in nature and caused by embers from a camp fire near the barn.

OSWEGO, IL — A fire in Oswego on Saturday destroyed a barn, according to the Oswego Fire Protection District.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. the Oswego Fire Protection District was dispatched for a reported structure fire in the 1700 block of Wolf Road. Upon arrival, officers found two-story wood frame barn fully engulfed by the fire.

The fire had also spread to the harvested corn field adjacent to the barn, officials said. The fire was kept from spreading to the nearby residence and other structures on the property.

The barn and its contents were completely destroyed but no injuries were reported. The fire was accidental in nature and caused by embers from a camp fire near the barn.

Aurora, Bristol-Kendall, Little Rock Fox, Plainfield and Minooka fire departments assisted at the scene. Naperville, Sugar Grove, and Troy fire departments provided station coverage during the incident.
