First Coronavirus Case Confirmed In Kendall County

The first case of coronavirus infection in the county was confirmed Tuesday by officials with the Kendall County Health Department.

KENDALL COUNTY, IL — The first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Kendall County was announced by the Kendall County Health Department on Wednesday, March 18. The state had previously announced that there were two cases of coronavirus in the county, which Kendall County officials said was mistaken.

According to the county Health Department, the patient infected with coronavirus is a 60-year-old woman and resident of an undisclosed town in Kendall County. She has no recent history of travel and is currently in isolation. According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, there are now a total of 288 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, and one confirmed death.

Both the state and county health departments urge all Illinoisans to wash their hands frequently and to regularly sanitize high-use surfaces with a mixture of five tablespoons of bleach per one gallon of water. More detailed instructions for sanitizing can be found on the Center for Disease Control and Prevention website. State residents are also advised to practice social distancing measures as much as possible. The less time individuals spend in public, the less chance they have of becoming infected and, in turn, passing the infection on to others.
