Fish Fry 2023: Where To Find Lenten Meals Near Oswego

OSWEGO, IL — Lent has officially begun, and with it comes the tradition of Friday fish fries.

There are several groups around town serving up delicious fried fish every Friday during the Lenten season. Whether you're an observing Christian or just a local foodie looking for a good seafood dinner, Patch has compiled a list of nearby events.

Christina's Grill & Gatherings, 3516 Route 34, Oswego

• Menu includes fish sticks made with cod, haddoc filet, french fries, soup and salad.
• Taking place every Friday during Lent. Reservations, made by calling 630-554-8905, are encouraged.

Oswego American Legion Post 675, 19 W. Washington St., Oswego

• Taking place from 4:30-7:30 p.m. every Friday during Lent.
• Menu includes appetizers, hamburgers, grilled cheese, fried or baked fish and baskets of chicken or fish. The buffet ranges in price from $8.50 to $15, with kids under 3 eating for free.
• Carry out is available by calling 630-554-8751.

Yorkville American Legion Post 489, 9054 Veterans Parkway

• Taking place from 4:30-7 p.m. every Friday through April 7.
• Menu includes fried and baked cod, shrimp, chicken tenders, french fries, coleslaw, steamed vegetables and bread.
• Buffet costs $15 for adults and $12 for children 12 and under. Carry out is available but costs an extra $1.

Montgomery VFW Post 7452, 121 N. River St.

• Taking place from 5-8 p.m. every Friday during Lent.
• Menu includes cod, popcorn shrimp and fried tilapia. Each dinner comes with a roll and coleslaw plus a choice of french fries, au gratin potatoes or a baked potato.
• Carry out is available.

St. Mary Immaculate Parish, 15629 S. Route 59, Plainfield

• Dine-in or carry-out dinner will be served from 4:30-7:30 p.m. March 3, March 10, March 17, March 24 and March 31.
• Carry-out orders can be placed by calling 815-577-6673 between 4-7 p.m. on fish fry dates. Orders must be picked up by 7:30 p.m.
• Credit cards, cash or checks payable to Knights of Columbus will be accepted.
• Menu and prices can be found via Patch.

Plainfield Moose Lodge #2491, 16310 S. Lincoln Highway

• Taking place from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Friday during Lent.
• Menu includes combo meals, two-piece cod dinner with sides, and three- or eight-piece shrimp dinner with sides. Prices range from $6 to $16.
