GoFundMe Campaigns Created For Victims Of Oswego Chick-Fil-A Stabbings
One campaign raises money for the family of the Bridgeview man who was killed, while the other raises money for the second victim stabbed.
OSWEGO, IL — Two GoFundMe campaigns were created to raise money for the victims and families affected by the double stabbings at the Chick-fil-A in Oswego.
One fundraiser is collecting money for the family of Tracey Land, the 52-year-old Bridgeview man who was completing a delivery when he was attacked and fatally stabbed Oct. 22 inside the fast-food restaurant at 2740 Route 34.
In the six days since it was created, the campaign has surpassed its $20,000 goal by raising nearly $23,000.

"Tracey Land was brutally murdered while making a delivery," wrote Peter Burke, the fundraiser's organizer. "We are trying to raise funds for his family and the care of his mother. Please donate to this cause."
The second campaign raises funds for the maintenance worker who was stabbed outside the restaurant nearly two hours after Land. The worker, 20, was with his mother when the attacker came from behind and stabbed him with a knife, Oswego police said. Despite his injuries, he was able to subdue the attacker while his mother called the police, Patch reported.

The stabbing suspect, 19-year-old Darryl Lee. Jr., of the 1400 block of South Third Avenue in Kankakee, is facing charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, concealment of a homicidal death, aggravated battery and armed robbery.
"Junior and his family are beloved members of our community," wrote the campaign organizer, Tiffany Wigsmoen. "They own a local maintenance company and have spent years helping countless families and businesses with all types of jobs — from landscaping to repairs. Personally, Junior has worked on my property and I can honestly say he and his family are among the most hardworking, honest, and kind-hearted people you could ever meet."
The description continues: "Now, Junior faces a long recovery ahead. Between medical bills, time away from work, and the emotional impact of this horrific event, his family will need the community’s support more than ever. ... Every bit of support helps and shows this family that their community stands behind them."
The GoFundMe for him and his family is 90 percent of the way to hitting its $20,000 goal.
Wigsmoen wrote that she started the fundraiser as her "way of giving back to someone who has always shown up for others."
As of Wednesday, more than a week since the stabbings, the Chick-fil-A website continues to list the Oswego location as temporarily closed due to "unforeseen issues."
