IL Report Card: How Oswego Schools Stack Up
Here's which District 308 schools ranked as exemplary, commendable and underperforming.
OSWEGO, IL — One Oswego school has been labeled as exemplary, while 16 others were labeled commendable and three more as underperforming, according to the Illinois Report Card. That includes seven schools moving to commendable after being labeled as underperforming last year.
The grades are part of the Illinois Assessment of Readiness state achievement exam, with data from the exams informing the Illinois Report Card. The report card gives schools a ranking of "exemplary," "commendable" or "underperforming" and also provides average tests scores for district students and breaks down district finances.
Oswego East High School was listed as exemplary, the lone school in the district with such a designation this year. No District 308 schools were labeled exemplary last year.

That's down slight from last year's 43 percent, but is above the 37 percent for the state average, according to the report card. District 308 said monitoring the scores included on the report over the years is hard because the state has changed it's testing and standards.
"Comparing scores year over year is hard when assessments continue to change," Associate Superintendent Faith Dahlquist said in a statement. "We are confident ... the diligent work being done to shape the strategic future of the district will result in more consistent achievement across our buildings and across our student populations."
District 202 operating expense per pupil is about $12,000, compared to the state average of $13,764, according to the Illinois Report Card.
