Kendall County Coronavirus Update: 120 Cases; 54 In Recovery

The Kendall County Health Department announced Tuesday evening that 54 coronavirus cases in the county were in recovery

KENDALL COUNTY, IL — The Kendall County Health Department announced Tuesday evening that the total number of new coronavirus cases in the county had risen to 120. Of those 120, 54 were confirmed to currently be in recovery. There are still only three coronavirus-related deaths so far reported in the county.

A majority of reported cases in Kendall County have thus far have been women, and about half of all cases have been reported in people in their 40s and 50s. As of the morning of April 15, a little over two million cases had been reported globally, with 609,696 cases reported in the U.S. and 23,248 cases reported in Illinois.

The county health department reminded residents in its latest news release that those with respiratory ailments like asthma are at increased risk from coronavirus infection. Coronavirus infection can also increase the risk of patients with asthma suffering an asthma attack or coming down with pneumonia.

The health department recommends that asthma patients do the following to decrease their risk of coronavirus complications:

  • Continue your current medication
  • Discuss any concerns about your treatment with your healthcare provider
  • Talk to your healthcare provider, insurer, and pharmacist about creating an emergency supply of prescription medications, such as asthma inhalers
  • Know how to use your inhaler
  • Avoid your asthma triggers
  • Onset of intense emotion can trigger an asthma attack, take proactive steps to address stress and anxiety
