Kendall County Coronavirus Update: Two New Cases On Thursday
A man in his 20s and a woman in her 40s were both confirmed to have coronavirus today.
KENDALL COUNTY, IL — As the number of state coronavirus cases continue to increase, the Kendall County Health Department announced Thursday that two more county residents had tested positive for the virus. The latest cases are a man in his 20s and a woman in her 40s. This brings the total number of cases in the county to 39 - including two deaths - after 12 individuals were confirmed to have the virus on Wednesday.
As part of its announcements of new cases, the health department often includes tips for people to protect themselves from infection. While the advice to wash hands, stay at home and practice social distancing is now commonplace, the health department on Thursday took time to remind people to also practice safety while at the grocery store.
Tips for safe shopping, according to the health department, include the following:

- Stay home when you are sick
- When possible, avoid shopping during peak hours to reduce large crowds
- Use germicide/sanitizer wipes or gel to wipe down carts and hands before and after use
- Don’t use reusable bags
- Practice social distancing while shopping and standing in line, by standing at least 6ft from other shoppers
- Avoid direct hand-offs, use credit /debit, virtual payment, or self-checkout
- If using a grocery delivery service, pay ahead of time to avoid direct hand-offs
- Keep hands away from face as this provides a way for the virus to enter your body
- Upon returning home, wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 second
The 39 cases in Kendall County are part of the still-growing number of cases in Illinois and the U.S. At the latest count, there were 7,695 active cases in Illinois and 242,182 cases in the country. That is a larger count than any other country in the world, and double that of Italy - the next-most severely affected nation.
