Leaf Collection Continues In Oswego, City Says
Officials said leaf collection will continue as long as weather permits.

OSWEGO, IL — City officials blamed an extended autumn and early November snows for the slow pace of leaf collection throughout the city, but said that crews are still working and will continue to collect leaves as long as the weather permits.
As of Dec. 10, the city said leaf crews were conducting a final pass through the village's Zone A. Once that zone is complete, crews will double back to Zones B and C, hoping to finish leaf collection before the next significant snowfall.

Officials also encouraged residents to consider eco-friendly leaf disposal methods, such as composting.

"Composted leaves make excellent garden mulch and fertilizer and can be broken down in a compost pile or spread under plants, shrubs and trees directly in the garden," the city said. "Piling and caring leaves around delicate plants, such as rose bushes, can protect valued garden plants from freezing temperatures."
