Local Verizon Store Robbed: Oswego Police

The Oswego Police reported that the Verizon store on the 2700 block of Route 34 was robbed by two men armed with pistols on Monday, Feb. 3.

On Monday, February 3, 2020, at approximately 7:44 p.m., Oswego Police were dispatched to the Verizon Wireless Store in the 2700 block of Route 34 for a report of a robbery. Employees reported two men wearing masks, black clothing and displaying pistols had entered the store. Due to the rapid police response, the offenders did not have an opportunity to take merchandise but did take property from employees. The two suspects fled the scene on foot and responding police observed a vehicle drive away from the area. Oswego Police immediately initiated a search for the suspects including a canine search and drone deployment with the assistance of Montgomery, Aurora and Yorkville Police and the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office.

One suspect was located near the scene and was detained. He was later released without charges, pending further investigation. Police located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle and attempted a stop however the vehicle fled from police. Police pursued the vehicle and it was last seen headed southeast-bound on Route 30. Neighboring jurisdictions were made aware of the fleeing vehicle.

The suspects are described as black males approximately 6 feet tall with thin builds, one having dreadlocks, wearing all black clothing with black masks. The vehicle is described as an older model grey Chrysler Pacifica with a license plate that appeared to be hanging from the vehicle.

The Oswego Police Department is asking anyone who may have information to contact them at 630-551- 7300. Alternatively, anonymous reports can be made to Kendall Crime Stoppers at 630-553-5999, where tips leading to arrests may receive a cash reward of up to $1000.00
