'Combative' Man Walks Into Street, Taken To Hospital: Oswego PD
Police reported Monday that they transported a man standing in Douglas Road to the hospital after the man displayed combative behavior.
OSWEGO, IL — Oswego Police said Monday that they had transported a man to an area hospital after he began behaving aggressively near the intersection of Douglas and Fernwood roads. A police news release on the incident stated that officers encountered the man shortly before 7:30 p.m. Police said he had been asking customers of the nearby Circle K gas station for cigarettes, before walking into the middle of Douglas Road.
"We received a call for a man who was banging on drivers' windows, asking for cigarettes, at the Circle K up there on Douglas," Oswego PD Public Information Officer Cathy Nevara said. "Responding officers encountered him in the roadway, and due to his actions and condition ... he was taken into custody, and transported to the hospital for a medical evaluation."
Nevara said police offered the man a ride home before taking him into custody, an offer Nevara said he rejected. She said that police on the scene decided to take him into custody after he began behaving aggressively toward them.
