More Than 700 Citations Issued In 2025 Fiscal Year Enforcement Program: Oswego PD
The goal of the year-long Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program was to reduce crashes and save lives, Oswego police said.
OSWEGO, IL — Oswego police issued 737 citations and made 20 arrests in an enforcement program that lasted the entirety of the 2025 fiscal year, officials said Tuesday.
Tickets were issued as part of the Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program, a statewide effort that lasted from Oct. 1, 2024, to Sept. 30, 2025. The enhanced enforcement was aimed at reducing crashes and saving lives, according to a news release.

- 169 speeding citations
- 392 occupant restraint citations
- 162 electronic device citations
- 14 other traffic citations
- 15 traffic arrests
- 5 criminal arrests
Oswego police focused on "dangerous behaviors," including speeding and impaired driving, with high-visibility campaigns such as "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket."
"The goal of this enforcement was to make our roads safer for everyone," department spokesperson Cathy Nevara said in a statement. "By focusing on the leading causes of crashes such as speeding, impaired driving, distracted driving and failure to wear seat belts, we aimed to save lives and remind drivers that violating traffic laws will not be tolerated."

The Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program was paid for by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
