New Deputy Chief Sworn In At Oswego Police Department

A 22-year veteran of the Oswego Police Department, Drew Santa stepped into his new role following his predecessor's retirement.

OSWEGO, IL — A new deputy chief was sworn in Tuesday night to oversee the field operations division of the Oswego Police Department, officials said.

A 22-year veteran of the department, Drew Santa stepped into his new role following the retirement of his predecessor, Deputy Chief Chris Briggs.

Village President Ryan Kauffman administered the oath of office during the Village Board meeting. Santa's family pinned his new badge onto his uniform as part of a "time-honored tradition."

Police officials wrote on Facebook that Santa "made exceptional contributions in his most recent role as Patrol Commander."

"Please join us in congratulating Deputy Chief Drew Santa and wishing him continued success in this well-deserved role!" officials wrote.
