Nine Coronavirus Cases In Kendall County As Of March 27

The number of coronavirus cases across the country continues to rise, and Kendall County is no exception.

KENDALL COUNTY, IL — In what's become almost a daily ritual, the Kendall County Health Department announced today that one more person had been confirmed to have coronavirus infection. The latest confirmed case in the county is a man in his 60s. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the county to nine, though it's likely that there are more unconfirmed cases yet to be brought to the health department's attention.

With the number of cases climbing daily and projected to continue - the U.S. recently overtook China in the number of confirmed cases it had - the health department today urged everyone to take time for their own mental health. Maintaining quarantine, social distancing and the regular washing of hands are all still important, but just as important is taking care of your state of mind in such uncertain times.

Here are some tips the health department provided for maintaining mental health:

  • Be intentional about how often during the day you watch, read or listen to coronavirus disease stories.
  • Take deep breaths, stretch, or meditate.
  • Eat healthy, well-balanced meals.
  • Exercise regularly.
  • Get plenty of sleep.
  • Avoid misuse of alcohol and drugs.
  • Make time to unwind.
  • Do activities that you enjoy at home.
  • Connect with family.
  • Talk with people you trust about your concerns and feelings.

The health department also recommends that anyone currently receiving treatment for mental health issues continue that treatment, and to be aware of any signs in you or your loved ones of heightened symptoms of whatever mental illness you may be struggling with.
