Oswego High Student Charged After Bringing Alcohol To School: Cops

OSWEGO, IL — An Oswego High School student was charged Tuesday after police say he brought alcohol to school.

Oswego police responded to the high school, off Route 71, at 12:02 p.m. for an "incident involving a non-cooperative student," as the department first reported in an alert on Facebook.

Officers were dispatched after the student was "disruptive and non-compliant" during an investigation by school staff and the school resource officer, according to a news release. No one was injured in the incident, police said.

The teenager was charged with possession of alcohol by a minor, consumption of alcohol by a minor and resisting arrest — all misdemeanors.

The student was taken to the Oswego Police Department, where he was later released to his parents and issued a juvenile referral for the charges. He is awaiting a court date, officials said.
