The project, to be built near Orchard Road and Tuscany Trail, a largely residential area near the Blackberry Knoll subdivision, the stadium drew concerns from some area residents when it was proposed in 2023.
It was officially approved by the village board in November of that year. Trustees and village staff discussed the Breybourne Stadium proposal for almost two hours before officials voted 4-1 to approve the project, including not only the stadium for professional cricket but also a hotel, two restaurants and a members' club.

Now, the Breybourne said, it is projected to open in time for the 2027 season.
