Oswego East High School Yearbook Receives Awards

The yearbook won five awards from the Illinois Journalism Association and received an honorable mention in two other categories.

OSWEGO, IL — Oswego East High School's 2018 yearbook has been recognized for excellence by the Illinois Journalism Association, according to a news release. The "vantage point" themed yearbook earned third place in the best overall yearbook category, and the school's yearbook staff were recognized for coverage, photography, copywriting and design.

According to the judges, the school's yearbook "featured photos that showed emotion, attention to detail and variety." Photos also enhanced the story telling and layout, helping to showcased the school's uniqueness, they said, praising its "clean layout that highlight the photos, content and fonts, while also utilizing white space."

  • First Place in Divider Pages
  • Second Place in Coverage of the Year
  • Second Place in Layout and Design
  • Second Place in Best Use of Photography
  • Third Place in Best Overall
  • Honorable Mention in Sports Coverage
  • Honorable Mention in Copywriting

The 2018 yearbook was also awarded a Gallery of Excellence award by Walsworth Publishing Company, officials said.

This years editors were Briana Koulback and Emaan Mohsinuddin; their adviser was Coleen Calvey; other staff members included: Alexis Agustin, Ellie Behnke, Carson Bierman, Genesis Blanco, Megan Delli, Jenna Furstenau, Jayshaun Gaddy, Kaleb Johnson, Justin Jones, Sloane Lightfoot, Emily Morgan, Sara Olschanski, Lauren Russell, Analise Tobias, Megan Vernald, and Mariah Whittsey.
