Oswego Fire Department And D308 Collect Over 5,700 Toys
The collection was for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves' annual Toys for Tots campaign.
OSWEGO, IL — Despite the challenges posed by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the Oswego Fire Protection District and Oswego School District 308 collected over 5,700 toys for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves’ annual Toys for Tots campaign, the fire district announced in a release.
"This year due to the pandemic, the OFPD had to readjust how we operate the program and unfortunately, we had to cut out the yearly Toys for Tots breakfast [for OSD 308 student helpers at the Fire Station No. 1]. With that being said, we had so many community members and organizations step up to help ensure success for the program," the release said.
The fire department was able to shift resources and assets for the program in a way that made sense and kept people safe. The OFPD was disappointed that it was not able to host the annual breakfast, but were excited about being able to provide for so many families in need.
