Oswego Fire Leaves Apartment Complex 'Uninhabitable', 1 Injured

The American Red Cross is organizing donations for about two dozen families that lost their homes.

OSWEGO, IL — One person suffered minor burns after a fire broke out at an apartment complex on Light Road in Oswego Monday night, according to a news release from the Oswego Fire Protection District. About two dozen families are now without a place to live, officials said, calling the apartment complex "uninhabitable."

The fire broke out on the second story of the multifamily complex in the 1400 block of Light Road shortly after 2 a.m. Officials don't yet know what started it, but said they are investigating. Cleanup is also underway.

One person was taken to a nearby hospital with a burn to the lower leg. Multiple fire departments from across Kendall County responded to the scene and officials said it took about half an hour to bring the blaze under control.
