OSWEGO, IL — Oswego High School is one of only a few schools throughout the country to host a pop-up exhibit from the National Archives. The exhibit will cover the ratification of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote.

In celebration of the 19th Amendment's 100th anniversary, the National Archives and Records Administration is launching nationwide initiatives celebrating women's rights and the ongoing struggle for equality. The nationwide events include the pop-up exhibit "Rightfully Hers." Oswego H.S. applied to host the exhibit and was one of the schools selected, District 308 said in a press release.

The exhibit uses historic documents, photos and first-hand accounts of the women's suffrage movement, showing what it meant for America and how the fight for equality has evolved.

"The ratification of the 19th Amendment was a landmark moment in American history that dramatically changed the electorate, and although it enshrined in the U.S. Constitution fuller citizenship for women many remained unable to vote," Rightfully Hers co-curator Jennifer N. Johnson said in a statement.

The exhibit will be on the display on the second floor of Oswego High School, in front of the social studies' office.
