Oswego Ice Cream: Who Sells Your Favorite Scoop?

National Ice Cream Day is July 16. To celebrate, Patch wants to know where readers turn to for the best scoop in Oswego.

OSWEGO, IL — Ice cream is the star of every summer, and sometimes it's hard to stop yourself from enjoying the frozen treat once, maybe even twice, a day.

It might come as no surprise to learn the United States leads the world in ice cream consumption. An American eats roughly four gallons a year to be exact, according to the Census Bureau.

It's no wonder that National Ice Cream Day is nationally recognized in the United States, thanks to President Ronald Reagan who decreed the day in 1984. Scoops are the focus of every third Sunday in July; this year, that falls on Sunday, July 16.
