Oswego Man Shot, Wounded: Kane County Sheriff

Police responded to reports of a shooting in Aurora Township shortly after 1:40 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 25. One Oswego man was injured.

AURORA TOWNSHIP, IL — The Kane County Sheriff's Office has reported that a 24-year-old Oswego man was shot and wounded sometime in the early morning of Monday, Nov. 25. The 24-year-old and two other men were sitting in a parked car near the 1200 block of Summit Avenue in Aurora Township when an unknown assailant began shooting into the vehicle. The car's driver attempted to flee but became stuck in a culvert. The shooting victim was sitting in the back passenger seat at the time.

Aurora Police and Kane County Sheriff's Deputies responded to reports of the incident shortly after 1:40 a.m.

"It was pretty quick... We had officers nearby who could respond right away," Kane County Undersheriff Pat Gengler said.

The shot individual was transported by first responders to an Aurora-area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The other two men in the vehicle were physically unharmed. Aurora Police, K9 and drone units assisted Sheriff’s Deputies in searching the area for the suspected shooter, but none were located. At this time the motive is unknown and there is no suspect information available.

"I wish we had a suspect right now, but we just don't," Gengler said.

Gengler added that detectives and evidence units are processing the scene and ask anyone with information to call Kane County Sheriff’s Detectives at 630-444-1103.
