Oswego PD To Host Community Emergency Response Team Program
The seven-week-long program educates people about disaster preparedness and trains them in response skills.
OSWEGO, IL — The Oswego Police Department will be the host site of the upcoming Community Emergency Response Team Program that kicks off July 9.
For eight weeks weeks, through Aug. 27, participants will learn disaster preparedness and basic response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations to help others when professional responders are not immediately available.
CERT members are also encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in the community.

The program, run by the Kendall County Emergency Management Agency, will take place from 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays.
Applications for the program are available on the police department's website. Class size is limited to 15 people and those 18 years or older. Participants will have to pass an OPD background check to be approved.
