OSWEGO, IL — Thanks to this week's unseasonable early snowstorm, the Village of Oswego will conduct a special brush collection starting Monday, Nov. 4. The collection will help residents who have not fully winterized their lawns and backyards before the snow hit.

Brush and yard waste should be placed by the curb at 7 a.m. Monday morning. Brush should be piled neatly so that the ends of branches are all facing the same direction. Do not put brush in a container or in the street. Village crews will pass through an area once and will not return for brush placed after the deadline.

The tight timeline will allow crews to return to leaf collection, which is ongoing in the village. More about the leaf collection process can be found here.

Crews can not pick up:

  • Brush blocked by vehicles
  • Brush places in or on top of leaf piles
  • Leaves mixed into brush piles

This is done to ensure the safety of our workers and to prevent damage to our equipment.

Next week is also the start of fall clean-up, where the village's waste removal contractor will pick up oversized items and yard waste without requiring a sticker. For more on that program, and how to participate, click here.
