Oswego Police Announce Local Report of Holiday Week Citations

On Monday Dec. 2, The Oswego Police released a record of their enforcement actions over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

OSWEGO, IL — The Oswego Police Department released their own account of enforcement actions taken over the Thanksgiving holiday week, part of the week-long statewide "crackdown" on dangerous driving behavior. According to the release, they issued 15 seat belt citations, two speeding citations and seven distracted driving (Use of Electronic Communications) citations.

During the crackdown campaign, which state and local police alike described as a "high visibility" effort, an increased amount of officers were present on the streets during late night hours, both on foot and in vehicles. The heightened police presence was funded by federal highway safety funds administered through the Illinois Department of Transportation.

The holiday crackdown was part of the state-wide “Click It or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaigns. For further information, citizens can contact Oswego Police at (630) 551-7300 or www.oswegopoliceil.org.
