Drivers can expect to be ticketed if they're caught speeding during the three-week enforcement campaign, police said.
OSWEGO, IL — The Oswego Police Department is intensifying its enforcement of posted speed limits for the majority of July.
From July 8-31, the department and more than 200 Illinois law enforcement agencies are partnering for the statewide effort to reduce speeding, according to a news release. Drivers should also expect increased enforcement of other traffic violations.

"We have seen an increase in careless and risky driving. No matter how safe a driver you think you may be, speeding is dangerous," OPD spokesperson Cathy Nevara said in a statement. "Speed limits aren’t a suggestion — they are the law."
The enforcement is part of the "Speeding Catches Up With You" campaign, paid for using federal safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
