Oswego Police Thanksgiving Campaign Yields 3 Arrests, Numerous Tickets
The Click It and Drive Sober campaign was conducted over a 10-day period and was part of a bigger enforcement effort for safe driving.
OSWEGO, IL — Officers with the Oswego Police Department recently were able to make three arrests for outstanding warrants while also issuing several tickets and citations during the department’s recent drive sober Thanksgiving campaign.
The enforcement campaign ran between Nov. 18 and 28 and encouraged drivers to buckle their seatbelts as well as to be sober when getting behind the wheel. The Oswego Police Department was one of a number of law enforcement agencies around Illinois to participate in the effort.
Locally, the campaign resulted in three arrests made on warrants, 28 seatbelt, and child safety seat citations, six speeding citations, five distracted driving citations, one citation for driving without a valid driver’s license, and two citations for driving with a suspended license.

“Our officers patrol year-round to keep motorists buckled up and impaired drivers off the roads,” the Oswego Police Department said in a news release. “We do this to save lives and ensure all of us make it home safely at the end of the day.”
The Thanksgiving enforcement effort is funded through federal traffic safety money that is administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation and is part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns.
