Oswego School District Releases Statement On Coronavirus Concerns

Officials from Oswego School District 308 released a media statement today on the district's preparedness for preventing cases of COVID-19.

OSWEGO, IL — The health and safety of our students and staff is always our district’s highest priority. Our district leaders remain in very close contact with the Kendall County Health Department, and also receive information and recommendations from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). We are monitoring the situation closely, and are reviewing current practices, policies and procedures to be certain we are following the guidance set forth by governmental health authorities.

Additionally, we are increasing efforts to educate and remind students of proper personal hygiene measures used to reduce the spread of germs and to increase opportunities for hand-washing throughout the school day.

The IDPH guidance does not call for more frequent cleaning or special sanitizing procedures for schools, does not direct the use of masks or gloves, or the cancellation of classes or events at this time. Surfaces across schools in our district are cleaned daily, and that practice will continue. The district does have a pandemic protocol established should the situation elevate to that level.

A letter to parents and staff in SD 308 was sent out today, with information regarding the current recommendations, reminders about keeping students home when sick, the guidance on measures to reduce the spread of germs, and a link to the district’s COVID-19 webpage that contains several links to valuable and updated resources. All health concerns or medical questions should be directed to physician or the Kendall County Health Department.
