Oswego Soldier Welcomed Home With Surprise Parade

OHS grad Timothy Andries getting some much needed R&R.

Operation Welcome You Home surprised another Oswego soldier with a parade Saturday afternoon.

U.S. Army 1st Lt. Timothy Andries has returned to town on a two-week leave after being deployed to Afghanistan in December. His welcome home parade began at the Oswego Home Depot and made its way to his family's home in Lakeview Estates.

The parade included fire and police personnel from Oswego, as well as Naperville police. Andries' late father was a member of the Naperville department.

Andries graduated from in 2004 and attended Eastern Illinois University, where he majored in recreational administration with a specialization in military sciences.

 In 2006, Andries joined Army ROTC where he later contracted with the U.S. Army. He graduated from EIU in May 2008 and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant.

In 2008, Andries attended Basic Officers Leaders Course II in Ft. Sill, OK. Upon graduation, he moved to Ft Leonard Wood, MO. to attend Chemical Officers Basic Course and graduated in the spring of 2009. In the summer of 2009, Andries was stationed in Ft Knox, KY with the 3rd Brigade, 1st Infantry as its Chemical Officer.
