Darion Deshawn Verner died on Friday, according to a statement from District 308. The 16-year-old was a junior at Oswego East High School.
"Darion will be remembered for his love of basketball, his love for playing the drums, as a son, as a big brother and as a friend to many," Superintendent Dr. John Sparlin said in a statement. "Our heartfelt thoughts are with his family, friends, and our students."
School staff and the Kendall County Crisis Team will be available to students, their families and staff members for grief counseling.
