Oswego Thanksgiving Enforcement Results Are In: 31 Tickets Issued
The Thanksgiving "Click It or Ticket" and "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign lasted from Nov. 22 to Dec. 2.
OSWEGO, IL — The Oswego Police Department issued a total of 31 citations during its Thanksgiving traffic safety enforcement campaign, officials revealed Monday.
Officers conducted the enforcement from Nov. 22 to Dec. 2. In participation with Illinois State Police and other local law enforcement agencies, the campaign used slogans "Click It or Ticket" and "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" to "emphasize safety education, strong laws and law enforcement’s commitment to saving lives."

- 20 for occupant restraint
- 4 for speeding
- 6 electronic device use
- 1 for other traffic-related violations
Police also made one traffic-related arrest during the campaign period.
"We issue tickets to remind drivers and passengers that seat belt use isn't a suggestion, it's the law," Oswego Police Spokesperson Cathy Nevara said in a statement. "As always, our goal is a safe community with safe drivers."

The effort was made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
