PrairieFest Parade Marches its Way Into Oswego Today

A variety of local businesses and community groups will participate in the parade.

The annual Parade will step off this Sunday in downtown Oswego

This year, parade coordinators said there are more than 65 entries, including the , Kendall County Sheriff’s Office, , and Oswego American Legion.

“We have a wonderful variety of local businesses and community groups who participate in the parade,” said Laura Finch, Oswegoland Park District marketing manager.

This year’s PrairieFest and PrairieFest Parade theme is “Small Town. Big
Life.”

Finch said one of the parade highlight’s last year, Hix Bros Marching Guitar Band, will be back again Sunday with their electric guitars and battery powered amps, along with both the and marching bands.

New this year will be Kendall County Forest Preserve District’s Ellis House and Equestrian Center with four horses.

“We’re also excited to have the Navy Band Great Lakes in the parade this year,” Finch said. “They will also be performing after the parade on the main stage at 3 p.m.”

In previous years, was the parade organizer.

“They made it the biggest parade of the Oswego year,” said Kristie Vest, special events coordinator for the Oswegoland Park District.

Last year, the Oswegoland Park District took over, with Finch and Chad Feldotto, park planner at Oswegoland Park District, at the helm, Vest said.

“They have succeeded in making it a traditional parade with new surprises,” she said.
