Results Released From July Speed Enforcement Campaign: Oswego Police

Oswego police released the number of tickets they issued during the nearly month-long speed enforcement campaign in July.

OSWEGO, IL — Oswego police unveiled Monday they issued 129 tickets during the nearly month-long speed enforcement campaign in July.

From July 8 to Aug. 1, the Oswego Police Department joined the statewide "Speeding Catches Up With You" effort, aiming to reduce highway fatalities and injuries associated with speeding.

Officers issued the following citations during the campaign:

  • 93 speeding
  • 17 seat belt violations
  • 11 distracted driving
  • 2 uninsured motorists
  • 1 no valid driver's license
  • 1 no valid registration
  • 4 others

"We continue to urge all drivers traveling through our community to slow down, obey speed limits and drive responsibly," Sgt. Brian Nehring said in a statement. "Every decision you make behind the wheel matters, it's truly not a game."

The campaign was paid for by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
