School of Rock operates 22 locations in Illinois, including the newly opened program in Oswego.
OSWEGO, IL — Oswego is now home to its own School of Rock.
The program, self-dubbed the "world's largest and most trusted multi-location music school," opened in December at 1680 Douglas Road, neighboring Meijer and Ross Dress For Less.
Students can enroll in rock classes and songwriting courses, take lessons in instruments and join a band that performs live shows throughout the year. The facility is outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment and is designed to "provide a safe and nurturing environment for all students."

The school offers a range of programs suitable for aspiring musicians, from beginners to advanced performers of all ages. Graduates of the school have gone on to secure record deals and appearances on Broadway and shows including "American Idol" and "The Voice."
The Oswego School of Rock is owned by Becky Adamitis, who discovered the program when her youngest son enrolled at a different location years ago. She was drawn to the performance-based curriculum and soon joined the company as a studio coordinator and later ascended to general manager, according to a news release.

"I've loved music since I was a child, but my career at the time didn’t fulfill me the way School of Rock does," Adamitis said in a statement. "Friends who knew how much music meant to me encouraged me to take the leap and open my own school. I called the franchise development team the next day, and the rest is history. I'm thrilled to share the power of music with my students and the Oswego community."
Among schools across six continents, School of Rock operates 22 locations in Illinois, including in Oswego.
