Twelve New Coronavirus Cases Announced For Kendall County

Kendall County announced twelve new coronavirus cases on Wednesday - the most yet confirmed in a single day.

KENDALL COUNTY, IL —The county's health department announced that it had confirmed twelve new cases of coronavirus on April 1, the most cases yet confirmed in a single day. The affected individuals include eight women whose ages span from their 20s into their 60s, and four men aged between their 30s and their 70s. This brings the total number of cases thus far confirmed in the county to 37, including two deaths.

While more women than men have been affected in Kendall County, globally, the coronavirus appears to affect males more severely than females. One study conducted in China in February pointed out that the mortality rate for men is around 2.8 percent, while the mortality rate for women is about 1.7 percent. The study did not account for transgender or intersex individuals.

Kendall County Illinois residents are encouraged to continue staying at home and to practice social distancing at times when leaving the house is unavoidable. Regularly washing hands and sanitizing high-use surfaces is also an effective way to slow the virus' spread. If you feel sick, call ahead to your doctor or hospital before going anywhere to get tested.
