A brief memorial service was held to honor the life and service of U.S. Air Force Capt. Brandon Cyr Tuesday morning at Oswego's Veterans Memorial Park on Main Street.

Cyr, 28, who spent part of his youth in Oswego, was killed in an airplane crash while commanding the plane in Afghanistan April 27. He was a member of the 906th Air Refueling Squadron stationed at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois.

Though Cyr's parents Phillip and Debbie Cyr are residents of Alexandria, VA, members of Cyr's family still live in the area, including his older sister Bobbi Jo.
