Woman Attacked Ex, Another Woman With Box Cutter: Sheriff

Deputies said the Aurora women entered her ex's Oswego apartment through a window.

OSWEGO, IL — A 39-year-old woman is facing charges after she was arrested Monday morning for attacking her ex-boyfriend and another woman in an Oswego Township residence, police said. According to the Kendall County Sheriff's Office, Angela Joy Varriale-Yelm brought a metal pipe and a box cutter to the apartment in the 2700 block of Light Road.

Deputies said Varriale-Yelm, of the 500 block of Declaration Lane in Aurora, got into the apartment through an unlocked bedroom window. There, she cut the 26-year-old man with the box cutter and struck the 25-year-old woman with the pipe, according to deputies. Officials said it was later determined that Varriale-Yelm and the male victim "had recently been in a dating relationship."

There was a third person in the apartment who managed to get out and call 911 at about 3:42 a.m., deputies said. Officers from other agencies responded to the call as well. Both victims declined medical treatment at the time, but later drove themselves to Rush-Copley Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.
