• Palos Park prepares to use updated laser technology for speed enforcement (chicagotribune.com) — Palos Park police are rolling out new lidar speed-enforcement devices, funded largely by an Illinois transportation grant, to crack down on speeding on the village’s open, forest-lined roads. Officers will also keep running targeted enforcement periods for seat belts, distracted driving, and DUIs, aiming to cut serious crashes. The new equipment is expected to be in use by January 2026.
