Moraine Valley CC, Pace Team Up To Offer Free Bus Driving Course

The free two-week course offers local residents the chance to obtain their commercial driver's license and begin work for the bus company.

PALOS HILLS, IL — Moraine Valley Community College and Pace are offering a free, comprehensive two-week course for anyone who wants to start a career as a professional bus driver, which offers local residents the opportunity to obtain their Class B commercial driver’s license and begin work for Pace.

A pre-hiring screening exam and discussion are scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. on Sept. 14, in Building T on the college’s Palos Hills campus, which is located at 9000 W. College Parkway.

Those looking to enroll in the course must attend the hiring event to help prepare for employment with Pace. The screening process will include an application, computer assessment and questionnaire, and background check (case by case/nonviolent offense). Vouchers also will be provided for drug screens.

Potential students need to have a valid Illinois driver’s license and obtain a Motor Vehicle Report ($12) from the Illinois Secretary of State. They can have no more than two infractions or tickets (not including red light) in the last five years, the school said.
