All-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner and a show! Silent Auction and live musical entertainment

OAK LAWN, Ill., [Oct. 29, 2025] — With summer 2026 on the horizon and camp costs rising, Troop 618 of Oak Lawn is getting a head start to ensure that next summer, every scout (ages 10–17) can attend Owasippe Scout Reservation in Twin Lake, Michigan. The troop will host an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner—spiced up with live entertainment—on Nov. 8, 2025, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9701 Brandt Ave, Oak Lawn.
Committee Member, Carly Bishop, who happens to have an MFA in Acting—tasked with organizing a spaghetti dinner fundraiser—decided to transform a tried-and-true meal into a showcase for young talent. “Getting to perform in front of a live audience is a great experience for our scouts,” Bishop said. “Scouting builds many skills, and adding the arts broadens their repertoire—confidence, creativity, and teamwork.”
The evening features silent auction baskets ranging from Chicago Bulls tickets, White Sox tickets or Chicago Fire Tickets, to Second City Tickets, a free solo airplane flight, a trip to the Wisconsin Dells and more. The highlight is a short comic musical revue directed by Bishop, who has written and produced original shows for Sward Elementary’s Drama Club and the Oak Lawn Park District’s Special Rec University Drama Club. The revue blends comedy, campfire skits, singing, and a few surprises performed by almost thirty scouts with cameo appearances by talented leaders and parents. Live music throughout the night will be provided by local pianist Craig Lanigan and guitarist Alan Bishop.
