PALOS, IL — Palos voters headed to the polls Tuesday and cast votes in the municipal, school board and library races.

It was a good night for incumbents representing the wards of Palos Heights and Palos Hills. All managed to hang on to their seats.

In Palos Heights’ only contested ward race, incumbent Jack Clifford was leading challenger Jennifer Case by a slim margin of 326 to 302, according to unofficial vote tallies. Provisional, vote by mail and write-in votes still have to be counted.

Incumbent James Daemicke won another term as the City of Palos Heights treasurer, with 1,704 votes (70.44%) over challenger George Popelka, who garnered 715 (29.56%) votes.

Many of the local races were uncontested or short a candidate, opening the door to future appointments or write-in candidates. Provisional, vote by mail and write-in votes still have to be counted. The results of the certified write-in contests will not be available for seven business days.

*Jennifer Rose Frankowicz - 422 (67.02%)
Sandy Szcygiel - 207 (32.91%)

Alderperson, Palos Hills, Ward 4

*Phillip S. Abed - 190 (65.97%)
Anna Biedrzycki - 98 (34.03)
