Palos Hills Garage Fire Sparked by Faulty Lawn Equipment

No one was injured in the blaze Wednesday morning.

A garage fire in Palos Hills appears to have started because of a fault in rechargeable lawn equipment, according to the North Palos Fire Protection District.

No one was injured, officials said. A family was inside the home when the fire ignited and were able to get out.

Firefighters were called at about 1 a.m. Wednesday to the 10700 block of South Palos Drive. Crews had it under control within 15 minutes of arriving, according to fire officials.

North Palos was on the scene for two hours after extinguishing the blaze. The cause of the fire remains under investigation but appears to be electrical and accidental.

The fire caused damage to the garage and roof, officials said. Two cars parked inside the garage also were damaged.
