Palos Hills Police Blotter: Failure to Yield Leads to Pot Arrest, Toy Car in Exchange For Information

SUNDAY, FEB. 27

Pot in Car

Benjamin Mueller, 20, of Wood Dale, and Adam Macak, 24, of Palos Hills, were charged with possession of cannabis. The pair were parked in a vacant lot along Roberts Road at 3:20 a.m. When Macak, the driver, noticed police he pulled out of the lot and began to drive, police said. Police stopped the car and noticed a strong smell of marijuana, police said. Both men admitted to having marijuana and turned over two plastic bags, police said.

DUI on Roberts Road

Francis Maher, 29, of Worth, was charged with drunken driving and no insurance. He was stopped at 1:30 a.m. on Roberts Road for driving without lights, police said. He failed a field sobriety test, police said.

Yield to Sirens

Aysay Yousef, 23, of Oak Lawn, was charged with possession of marijuana and failure to yield to emergency vehicles. At about 5:30 p.m. Yousef was driving in front of emergency vehicles from the North Palos Fire Protection District. The vehicles had their lights activated and were sounding sirens. Yousef failed to pull over, police said. After stopping his vehicle police smelled a strong odor of marijuana and found the substance in the car, police said. 

TUESDAY, FEB. 21

Weird Request

An employee of a hobby shop on the 11100 block of Southwest Highway reported that he was contacted by a man who told him items were being stolen from the store, police said. The man then requested a free radio controlled car in exchange for more information, police said. Detectives are investigating.
